A colpocleisis (vaginal closure) is a surgical treatment for pelvic organ prolapse in which the length of the vaginal canal is shortened. It is done through the vagina, that is, it does not require abdominal incisions and recovery is very fast. It is only suitable for women who are not sexually active (and do not intend to be in the future), since the vaginal canal will be very short.
