Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (MAP), also called a blood pressure holter, is a safe and non-invasive study used for the diagnosis and control of blood pressure (BP). It is performed over a period of 24 or 48 hours, outpatient form (outside the office or hospital), in which the person performs, in their environment, the usual physical and work activity. During the study a device known as Holter is used, which is formed by a portable sphygmomanometer (device that measures blood pressure figures) connected to a tape recorder that records the data obtained for later analysis by your doctor.
