Colonoscopy

It is a medical examination that allows direct visualization of the inside of the colon (large intestine) and the final part of the small intestine (ileum), through a long and flexible tube (colonoscope) that carries at its end a video camera whose image It is transmitted to a monitor. Colonoscopy is usually performed under sedation, which reduces discomfort and aims to detect possible abnormalities in the walls of the large intestine, rectum or ileum, caused by diseases.
