Gastro - colonoscopy

A gastro-colonoscopy are two procedures that complement each other and, when performed together, substantially improve the diagnosis. They are performed under sedation which allows to reduce discomfort and that studies are well tolerated.

Gastroscopy is a medical examination that allows direct visualization of the upper part of the digestive tract (Esophagus, stomach and duodenum), through a thin and flexible tube (Endoscope) that carries at its end a video camera whose image is transmitted to a monitor.

Colonoscopy is a medical examination that allows direct visualization of the inside of the colon (large intestine) and the final part of the small intestine (ileum), through a long and flexible tube (colonoscope) that carries a video camera at its end whose image is transmitted to a monitor.
