Debridement of the mastoidectomy cavity (complex)

It is a surgery to remove the cells in the hollow and air-filled spaces that are in the skull behind the ear, inside the mastoid bone. These cells are called mastoid cells.


You will receive general anesthesia, so you will be asleep and painless. The surgeon will make a cut behind the ear. (...) The infected parts of the mastoid bone or the ear tissue will be removed and the incision will be sutured and a bandage will be placed.
