Laberintectomy with mastoidectomy
$6,000.00
Laberintectomy is the removal of the vestibular apparatus. It is one of the techniques, called destructive, that are used in the treatment of Menière's disease when hearing in the ear to be treated is not useful (if hearing is still useful, vestibular neurectomy is preferable). It can be done endoaurally (through the external auditory canal) in some cases of favorable anatomy, or transmastoidly (by grinding the bone behind the ear). Mastoidectomy is surgery to remove the cells in the hollow, air-filled spaces found in the skull behind the ear, which are called mastoid cells.
