Laryngoscopy is a test of the back of the throat, including the larynx. In direct laryngoscopy, a tube called a laryngoscope is used, the instrument is placed in the back of the throat. This procedure allows the doctor to look deeper into the throat and remove a foreign object or tissue sample for a biopsy. Arytenoidectomy is the removal of the arytenoid cartilage, one of the even cartilages of the larynx.
