A CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) is a device that provides continuous positive air pressure throughout the ventilatory cycle (inspiration and expiration), which keeps the upper airway open, and therefore prevents its collapse. The CPAP generates a constant flow of air that through a tubulant is transmitted to a nasal mask and, from there, to the upper airway which causes its stabilization and an increase in its area, preventing the occurrence of apneas.
