Neck dissection is a major surgery that is done to remove lymph nodes that have cancer, the amount of tissue and the number of lymph nodes that are removed depend on how far the cancer has spread. In this type of neck dissection, all tissue is removed on the side of the neck from the jaw to the clavicle. The muscle, nerves, salivary gland and main blood vessel are removed in this area.
