Bartolino cyst

The bartolino glands are at the sides of the vaginal opening, these glands secrete a liquid that helps lubricate the vagina; Sometimes, the openings of these glands become blocked, which causes the fluid to return to the gland. The result is a relatively painless swelling called "Bartolino's cyst." If the fluid inside the cyst becomes infected, you may suffer from an accumulation of pus surrounded by inflamed tissue (abscess). Bartolino cysts or abscesses are frequent and treatment depends on the size of the cyst, how painful it is and whether it is infected.
