Kidney biopsy, or kidney biopsy, is a minimally invasive procedure, consisting in the extraction, through a needle, of a small sample of kidney tissue to be analyzed in the laboratory through a microscope for signs of injury or disease.
The biopsy needle is inserted through the skin and is generally guided with the help of an imaging device, such as an ultrasound transducer.
