A hip fracture is the breaking of the bones in your hip. The hip is located near the upper part of the leg and hip fractures can occur at any age; however, it is more common in people over 65 (it is also more common in women). There are different types of hip fractures, these are classified according to their anatomical location and are: intertrochanteric, femoral neck, femoral head and subtrochanteric. Treatment for hip fracture often consists of a combination of surgery, rehabilitation and medications.
