Feeding of the infant

Breastfeeding is all that babies need to take up to 6 months (it is a complete food), has all the nutrients needed to grow and also provides natural defenses that help prevent many diseases. From 6 months onwards, other foods other than milk are usually started, this is what is called "complementary feeding" (some babies may start a little earlier). The introduction of complementary feeding allows the baby to experiment with new flavors and new textures, so it must be done with patience, since the baby must get used to still unknown sensations. Little by little he will establish his own capacity to feed himself, and will begin to discriminate the different gustatory stimuli.
