It is a surgery to remove all or part of the bladder, it is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed through small incisions through which a camera and instruments are introduced, avoiding abdominal incisions and exposure of the abdominal cavity. Cystectomy is usually done to treat recurrent invasive or non-invasive bladder cancer, to treat other pelvic tumors, such as colon or advanced endometrial cancer, and some non-cancerous (benign) conditions, such as interstitial cystitis or congenital abnormalities.
