Shoulder rotator cuff surgery is a surgical procedure to repair a torn tendon in the shoulder; This procedure can be performed with a large (open) incision or with a shoulder arthroscopy, which uses smaller incisions. The tendons rejoin the bone. Small rivets (suture anchors) are often used to help fix the tendons to the bone. Suture anchors can be made of metal or a material that dissolves over time and does not need to be removed. The sutures (points) are attached to the anchors, which tie the tendon back to the bone.
