Laparotomy myomectomy is a surgical procedure to remove uterine fibroids, also called fibroleiomyomas, leiomyomas, myofibromas or fibroids. These frequent non-cancerous tumors appear in the uterus, usually during the fertile years, although they can appear at any age, myomectomy leaves the uterus intact and is therefore the preferred treatment to eliminate myomas in the woman who seeks to have children.
