Refractive surgery consists of a series of surgical procedures that aim to reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses and contact lenses and, therefore, minimize any existing refractive defect in the eye such as myopia (poor distance vision), farsightedness ( poor near vision), astigmatism or presbyopia. It is a safe and generally rapid eye surgery, since it usually does not take more than 15 minutes for each eye.
