The pterygium is an abnormal growth of the conjunctiva on the cornea, usually occurs more frequently in the area closest to the nose. Surgery is performed to remove this abnormal growth, then perform a graft from the same eye of the patient in the place where the pterygium is removed, to reestablish the conjunctival layer of the area.
