Trabeculectomy
$3,450.00
It is the glaucoma drainage surgery called classic, aims to decrease intraocular pressure. The trabeculectomy consists of opening a way out of the aqueous humor from the anterior chamber of the eye to the subconjunctival space, creating a filtering bleb below the conjunctiva, through a small hole in the sclera (white part of the eye). The balance between the production and the elimination of the aqueous humor (liquid that fills the anterior chamber of the eye) is fundamental to guarantee the normal functioning of the eye; if the drainage of the aqueous humor does not occur properly, the intraocular pressure will increase, causing damage to the optic nerve that permanently and irretrievably affects the visual field.
