Both the enteroscope and a plastic sheath that is placed on the outside have a ball on the tip that is inflated and deflated by means of a manometric equipment (which controls the pressure of the balls), to allow the advance and also folding the small intestine that is very long (about 6 meters), the only way to fully explore it with flexible endoscopy.
It is a long exploration, about 60 to 120 minutes, so it is done with sedation and even with general anesthesia, being controlled in its vital functions throughout the test. You should keep in mind that that day you will not be able to work; It is convenient to come accompanied to do the EDB. You will not be able to drive or make important arrangements afterwards.
