Quadrantectomy with axillary dissection

It is a surgical intervention that involves removing the cancer and part of the tissue surrounding the tumor, some lymph nodes can also be removed under the arm to perform a biopsy. The excised tissue is small enough so that there is no significant difference between the operated breast and the one that has not undergone surgery.

Quadrantectomy is also known as partial mastectomy, segmental mastectomy or surgery to preserve the breast.
