Helicobacter pylori or H. pylori is the bacteria responsible for causing most stomach and small bowel ulcers, it is also associated with bad breath, acute and chronic gastritis, and especially chronic atrophic gastritis, cancer gastric, nodular gastric hyperplasia, gastric adenomas and MALT lymphoma.
There are several tests that can detect its presence and it will be the doctor who determines which of them should be carried out; these include: the breath test with urea, analysis of antibodies in the blood, detection of antigens in the stool or stomach biopsy with endoscopy.
