Intravenous pyelogram

An intravenous pyelogram (IVP), also called excretory urography, is a safe and relatively comfortable radiographic exam, which uses an injection of contrast material to evaluate the urinary tract. The substance highlights the contour of the kidneys, ureters and bladder as it flows through the system and accumulates in the urine; it is usually done to see if there is anything that prevents the flow of urine, enlarged prostate or diagnoses blood in the urine.
