Polka dot surgery is a simple, outpatient surgical procedure, which only requires local anesthesia. Melanocytic moles or nevus are a common type of skin growth caused by a group of pigmented cells. They usually appear during childhood and adolescence, it is normal that we all have between 10 and 40 moles.
The appearance of new moles with rapid growth or that show itching or different irregularities in their shape and color should be checked by a dermatologist to rule out that they are malignant and degenerate into a highly deadly skin cancer or melanoma.
