It is a minimally invasive surgery to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD occurs when the lower muscle of the esophagus, also called the lower esophageal sphincter, does not close properly, this causes the acid and food in your stomach to return to your esophagus. The acid irritates and damages your esophagus, causing a burning sensation called acidity. With a laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication, the symptoms of GERD are relieved and damage to your esophagus can be prevented.
This procedure includes medical fees and 1 day of hospitalization.
