It is a minimally invasive diagnostic study that allows to know the coronary anatomy and the presence of possible obstructions.
To perform a coronary angiography it is necessary to introduce a catheter (small plastic tube about 2 millimeters in diameter), which reaches the arteries of the heart, and inject a liquid called contrast (iodinated substance) that stains the arteries inside, allowing them to be seen through a Angiograph (an x-ray device) which shows the state of the arteries inside. The study also allows you to evaluate how heart valves and heart muscle work.
