Brachytherapy is a type of radiation therapy used to treat cancer, which involves placing a radiation source that is usually sealed in a small container called an implant. Different types of implants can be called pills, seeds, ribbons, wires, needles, capsules, balloons or tubes with radiation.
Regardless of the type of implant used, it is placed in your body, very close to or inside the tumor, usually, implant placement is a procedure that does not cause pain.
