Intrastromal or intracorneal rings are an alternative for the treatment of keratoconus (corneal disease that involves the deformation of this tissue and acquires a cone shape), which causes a progressive alteration of vision making it increasingly blurred.
The rings are implants designed to make the central cornea more homogeneous and at the same time correct diopters. With this technique, vision is improved in all cases, an attempt is made to stop the progression of the disease and in this way glasses or contact lenses can be used more easily later.
