Total knee replacement surgery, also known as total knee arthroplasty, aims to eliminate pain and restore the mobility of a damaged, worn or diseased knee through an artificial joint (prosthesis).
For most people, knee replacement relieves pain, improves mobility and provides a better quality of life, since you can usually resume daily activities, such as shopping, driving, swimming and mild household chores, between Six and eight weeks after surgery.
