Pulpotomy is a treatment that is performed frequently in children, it is indicated in those cases in which the temporary tooth is affected by a pulpitis (inflammation of the pulp), or an exposure of the pulp as a result of trauma or a caries of appreciable size.
This procedure aims to extract the part of the pulp that has been damaged and preserve the rest, always trying to maintain the pulp of the root so that it does not produce pain, tenderness, inflammation or a root resorption. Pulpotomy does not interfere with the development and subsequent eruption of the definitive tooth.
