The ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that forms in the ovary, may have its origin in the menstrual cycle, or be caused by some pathology. Resection or excision of the ovarian cyst in a surgical procedure that can be performed by laparotomy or laparoscopy and under anesthesia, so that no pain is felt. During surgery, a sample (biopsy) is likely to be taken for testing.
