Hallux valgus surgery (bunions)

Women are the main affected by bunions (hallux valgus), which are a deformity that affects the first toe due to a genetic condition or the use of inappropriate footwear.
Bunion surgery repairs the joint and deformed bone, either by extracting or realigning the soft tissue and bone. This is done to relieve pain and restore normal joint alignment, small wires, screws, or plates may be used to hold the bones in place.
