Laparotomy is a surgery in which an incision is made through the abdominal wall in order to correct the intestinal invagination. The intervention does not present any pain for the patient because it is performed while asleep under general anesthesia.
Intestinal invagination is the sliding of a part of the intestine within itself. Most cases occur in children between 3 months and 2 years, it is rare in newborn babies, but it can also occur in older children, adolescents and adults.
