Refractive surgery consists of a series of surgical procedures that aim to reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses and contact lenses and, therefore, minimize any existing refractive defect in the eye, such as presbyopia (it is the main visual anomaly that affects the over 45 years). It is a safe and generally quick eye surgery, as it usually does not take more than 15 minutes for each eye.
