Laryngoscopy is a test of the back of the throat, including the larynx. In direct laryngoscopy, a tube called a laryngoscope is used, the instrument is placed in the back of the throat. This procedure allows the doctor to look deeper into the throat and remove a foreign object or tissue sample for a biopsy. A neoplasm is an abnormal mass of tissue, whose growth exceeds and is uncoordinated with that of normal tissues, and which persists in its abnormality after the stimulus that caused the change has ceased.
