Excision of the thyroglossal duct cyst
$2,500.00
The thyroglossal duct is a tube that is formed during the development of the thyroid gland in the first weeks of pregnancy. This gland originates at the base of the tongue and travels to the lower part of the neck, leaving a tube that closes a few weeks later, becoming a cord. In some children this tube does not close completely and there is a space that can be filled with fluid or mucus, forming a cyst (cyst of the thyroglossal duct). It usually manifests itself in the first 5 years of life, although in some cases it is diagnosed in adulthood.
