Skin biopsy is a biopsy technique in which a skin lesion is removed and sent to a pathologist for a microscopic diagnosis. A skin biopsy is used to diagnose or rule out certain skin conditions and disorders (such as skin cancer or psoriasis). It is usually done under local anesthesia in the doctor's office, and the results are usually available in 4 to 10 days.
