Anal fistula surgery it is usually a simple procedure that can be undertaken in day surgery (outpatient surgery), and most patients can return home shortly after the operation. It is a tunnel-shaped wound that forms near the anus, almost always as a result of an abscess (concentration of pus below the skin). The fistula extends from the inside of the rectum to the surface of the skin just around the anus.
