Peripheral neuropathy is a condition that develops as a result of damage to the peripheral nervous system, often causing weakness, numbness or insensitivity and pain, usually in the hands and feet; it can also affect other parts of the body. The peripheral nervous system is the communication network that transmits information between the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and all other parts of the body.
