Leep

It is a minor operation whereby a small fragment of abnormal tissue is removed from the cervix to be examined by biopsy. The procedure is carried out under mild general anesthesia or local anesthesia, in case of local anesthesia, the anesthetic injects it into the cervix, anesthetizing the area and helping to control the bleeding. An instrument similar to a wire loop is used to remove the fragment of abnormal tissue from the cervix.
