Panendoscopy, also known as gastroscopy or upper digestive endoscopy, is a medical test used to visualize, diagnose and treat diseases of the upper part of the digestive tract (esophagus, stomach and duodenum), through a thin, flexible tube (endoscope ) that carries at its end a video camera whose image is transmitted to a monitor. Gastroscopy is usually performed under sedation, which reduces discomfort and allows the study to be well tolerated.
