Once the anesthesia has taken effect the dentist will expand the socket (the area where the tooth is located), using a special lifting instrument or a pair of tweezers. Then it will move the tooth from side to side until it is loose enough to be completely removed. This procedure prevents gum infection, overcrowding, cyst formation and offers a more favorable recovery.
