Lung function (spirometry)

Spirometry is one of the most frequently ordered tests of lung function, used to evaluate how the lungs work by measuring how much air you inhale, how much you exhale and how quickly you exhale. It is a very simple and quick test to perform, but it gives us very valuable information, since it is used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other diseases that affect breathing.
Spirometry can also be used periodically to monitor the condition of the lungs and check if the treatment of a chronic lung disease helps you breathe better.
