Appendectomy

It is the surgical extirpation of the appendix. The appendix is a small tube-shaped pouch attached to the large intestine, the exact purpose of the appendix is not known, however, it is believed that it can help people recover from diarrhea, inflammation and infections of the small intestine and large intestine. This may sound as if the appendix had important functions, however, the body can function properly without the appendix.
